Christmas at the Blomquist House

After staying up until 2 a.m. to enjoy the snow, Craig and Melinda were woken up bright and early to the shrill sound of kids screaming "Merry Christmas!" We had a white Christmas morning - there was still a full blanket of snow on the ground.

The kids got down to the business of opening presents rather than playing in the snow. After a few turns each of opening presents, they all went outside and played in the snow for a while. They had a snowball fight, made snow angles, and tried to build a snowman. Unfortunately, the snow wouldn't pack anymore, and just wouldn't stick together. It has warmed up quite a bit now, and most of the snow is gone. Once their hands were frozen, they came back in and finished unwrapping presents.

Now they are, of course, busy playing with their booty.

Here are Katie and Caleb helping to make Christmas cookies.
The only place around to go see Christmas lights is about a half an hour away from home. Here are the kids in front of a telling sign (except for the valley we live in).
Katie and Caleb both wrote a letter to Santa Claus (Andrew is too old for that sort of thing). They were very excited to read his reply.
Here is Katie finally letting "Nellie" out of her nicely wrapped prison. "Gasp! Gasp!" As you can tell she is very excited about her new American Girl.
This is Caleb's first Christmas snow storm. He enjoyed playing in the snow, and making a snow angel.
We can guess that Andrew was King of the snowball fight. Here he is right in the middle of it.
Here is what we woke up to. A very nice blanket of snow. We didn't figure that it would last through the night - it's gone now. Usually our roof is black.
Caleb was very excited for all his new Imaginext gifts from his Grandparents. We have a video of him opening one of them. It shows the emphasis on "very excited".
Here is Caleb working on Imaginext, Andrew reading about Spyro (a television game), and Katie playing with Nellie (you'll have to take our word on this last one).
Katie's American Girl dolls had their winter coats (that's one of the things she got for Christmas), and they all had to venture out in the "Cold".
Here is Caleb making a very small snowman. But also his first one ever of any size.
Here is Katie making a very small snowman. Not her first one, but her first one in Texas. If you want to see Andrew's, it is on our "Snow" page.

Video Shorts

These Videos are all just about 30 seconds long. Not very long. I had to crunch them down very small so that I wasn't online uploading all day for the next few days (the pains of dial-up). They are all between one and two megabytes. Those of you who are blessed with broadband will have no trouble viewing them right from the Internet. Those of us with dialup would be smart to right click on the link , and selecting "Save Target As". This will allow you to download the file to your hard drive where you can view it with ease.
This is a video of Caleb. He was trying to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, but got his wording just a bit off.Vid1.wmv
Vid2.wmvThis is a video of the kids when it first started to snow. They are very excited.
More fun in the snow. The kids are playing in the driveway. This was when we finally got Caleb to actually step into the snow (he was tired and not sure how much he wanted to play in the snow).Vid3.wmv
Vid4.wmvCaleb was very excited about opening this present. I regret that we didn't get the dance he did afterwards. We tried to get him to do it again, but it just didn't look the same.
